I am a dedicated and qualified Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor with over 30+ years of professional experience committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for my clients.
With a natural and open communication style, | build trust in relationships easily, and possess the confidence and maturity to deal with a wide range of emotional and culturally sensitive situations. Using a broad range of practical skills and strength-based evidence proven counselling techniques such as Positive Psychology, Person-Centred, CBT, ACT, Reality Therapy, Mindfulness, Addiction Psychology, Relationship counselling etc. I offer a mature, holistic and objective approach. My commitment to on-going professional development gives me a vast toolbox to draw from, as well as my life experience.
My focus is humanity, practical, helpful and non-judgemental. I am down to earth, no nonsense, no psycho speak, but use proven techniques to effect change. I aim to make a positive difference, in a safe confidential space where people can be heard. I speak to individuals, couples and families using face2face in person, video platforms or phone as desired.
Frontline duties as mental health first responder in overseas refugee camps for several years made me adaptable and cope with constant change in the workplace working with torture and trauma and vulnerable people. I understand FIFO, shiftwork, responsibility and the importance of self-care. I have 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren.
I understand and relate to people and their families. I can usually guarantee an appointment within a week.
