Joshua Conway

I am a registered Mental Health Counsellor with several years of experience providing counselling and crisis support. My work within crisis services has given me broad insight into the many different experiences and challenges people across Australia may face.

I have supported clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life circumstances, including people experiencing anxiety, autism and neurodiversity, chronic illness, depression, disability, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, and stress.

I aim to provide a supportive, respectful and non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood and supported as they work through difficult experiences and move towards greater wellbeing.

Counselling approach

In therapy, my goal is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions and experiences. My practice is primarily person-centred and strengths-based, meaning I work collaboratively with each client and tailor therapy to their individual needs, values and goals.

Everyone’s experiences are different, and therapy can offer an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of yourself with curiosity rather than self-criticism. Together, we can explore what matters most to you, build on your existing strengths, and work towards changes that feel meaningful and achievable in your life.

Who I support

Through my work in crisis support, I have supported people from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of needs. I believe that understanding each person’s individual experience is an important part of counselling, and I encourage that same sense of curiosity in clients as they seek to better understand themselves and others.

Working in difficult and challenging situations has taught me the importance of patience, adaptability and honesty, while remaining open-minded and compassionate. I bring these qualities to my counselling work as I support clients in exploring their experiences and moving towards the changes that matter to them.
