Sean Ross

I am a personable and approachable therapist with more than 20 years of counselling experience. During this time, I have supported people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, ages and life circumstances, drawing on extensive counselling knowledge and skills to meet each person with understanding, respect and care.

Counselling approach

I take an eclectic and flexible approach to counselling, with each client’s individual needs at the centre of our work together. I am a grounded therapist who values building trusting, collaborative relationships and providing a safe, respectful and supportive space.

Sessions are guided by an understanding of each client’s needs, concerns and goals. Together, we explore the areas that are most important to you and work towards practical, meaningful and achievable outcomes.

My approach is holistic and draws on a range of therapeutic frameworks, including Person-Centred Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches. I am committed to ongoing professional development, which allows me to continue expanding my knowledge and integrating current best practice into my work.

Who I support

I focus on the everyday challenges people face and provide counselling in a supportive, respectful and non-judgmental way. I speak plainly, value humility, and aim to help clients develop practical skills, strengthen their understanding of difficult situations and build greater confidence in how they respond to life’s challenges.

My counselling offers a safe space where clients can feel heard and understood. I work with individuals, couples and families across a diverse range of concerns, helping people navigate periods of change, stress and difficulty.

My professional experience includes frontline mental health work, family and domestic violence, men’s mental health and men’s groups, as well as supporting people of different ages, genders and backgrounds. I understand that people’s lives can be complex, and that trauma and difficult experiences can affect both home and work. I bring this experience, together with my own life experience, to my work in a grounded, relatable and compassionate way.
